Spring has finally sprung in Paris. The weather has been beautiful -- sunny and warm, although with the occassional afternoon thunderstorm. On Sunday we had brunch in the Odeon area at a bar called the Moosehead, perhaps more well-known for its Canadian lagers and large-screen TVs than its culinary delights. However, John had noticed a sign for a reasonably priced brunch and we were hankering for a good old (North) American breakfast. We had the usual, or unusual for France -- eggs, pancakes, maple syrup, bacon & sausage. After our hearty repast, we emerged from the dark smoky bar into a glorious, sunny afternoon. We walked over to Shakespeare & Company, the Parisian used-bookstore/instiution that sits alongside the Seine and overlooks Notre Dame. Next to the store are several cafes that were chock full of tourists. These cafes could arguably be called tourist traps -- the prices are a bit higher and the food mediocre, but those flaws are greatly outweighed by the incredible view. Several large cherry trees were in full bloom (making us miss DC) and the proprietor of one of the cafes shook the branches regularly, showering his customers with pale pink petals, much to the delight of a squealing little girl.
We did not bring our camera and so have no picture of the lovely spring scene, but we do have one of our cat, who has been enjoying the sun in the limited way she can.

The Moose rocks, but the draft isn't so Canadian as I believe it's brewed locally :-(
Question: Why is the Moose so good while at the same time their sister bar "The Beaver" seems to be lacking?

An afternoon under the cherry blossoms is one of my best D.C. memories. They are so delicate and, somehow, magical.
I miss Washington and would definitely consider moving back - in the distant future.
